The Houston Texans launched their girls' flag football program in the Houston area in 2023 to help "create equitable opportunities for young female athletes." They now plan to bring the program to two Austin-area school districts.

The teacher who started the cheer team says it's the only one at an elementary school in Austin ISD. The students say the team has helped them develop all types of skills � from problem solving to toe touches.

Austin FC will look very different this year following the departures of many key figures in the club's short history.
