fans who snapped up last of $9 for two movie tickets from are patting themselves on the back right now. That's because the local food and film franchise in a news release that it is partnering with the web-based movie ticketing firm.
Movie-goers will still be able to purchase their tickets from Alamo Drafthouse websites, but now they'll have the added option of ponying up through Comcast-owned Fandango, which provides ticketing for most local theaters, along with reviews and trailers of upcoming films.
"Theatrical releases & our specialty programming can sell out days, even weeks in advance and sometimes after minutes of being available for purchase, so online and mobile ticketing is a huge part of our business," Drafthouse founder and CEO Tim League said in .
League said the partnership will help Drafthouse as it expands into New York City, Los Angeles, and other US cities.
As part of the deal, Fandango will also provide a weekly "Guide to the Alamo Drafthouse" that will highlight their special events and cult film screenings.
To celebrate the partnership, Alamo Drafthouse and Fandango are holding a first-come, first-served party during the SXSW Film Festival. But you have to have a SXSW badge to get in the door.
