Texting Ban Moves to House Floor

A bill that would ban texting while driving in Texas is scheduled to be heard on the House floor today.

, filed by state Rep. Tom Craddick (R-Midland), to text behind the wheel 鈥� with a fine of $100 for the first offense and $200 after that.

The House bill has bipartisan support and there鈥檚 an . But last legislative session, Gov. Rick Perry on texting while driving. He鈥檚 called it government micromanagement.

Texas is one of eleven states that doesn鈥檛 have a ban. But many Texas cities 鈥� including Austin 鈥� do.
