With President Obama and some legislators from both parties , Texas’s Sen. John Cornyn says he does not support a comprehensive overhaul of the country’s immigration laws.
Instead, he advocates stricter enforcement of existing laws.
“Border security, worksite enforcement, and visa overstays -- people who enter legally, and then overstay, and then just melt into the great American landscape� should be the nation’s priorities, said Cornyn, the highest-ranking Republican on the Senate’s .
Cornyn says he’ll oppose any effort to provide amnesty for people who are here illegally, saying it would be unfair to those who have followed the rules.
