It wasn't a great election cycle for Texas Governor Rick Perry. After 2011 and racing to the top of the crowded GOP presidential field, it was a steep and speedy slide to the bottom of the heap.

- GOP Presidential candidate (for a very short time)
- Texas U.S. Senate Candidate
"The gap between what was expected of Perry and what he delivered coupled with incredibly high profile of the race in which he chose to flop makes Perry a clear choice for worst candidate of 2012," writes "Fix" blogger Chris Cillizza.
