New Report Says 10 Percent Of Austin Works For Tech Industry

A report examining the nation's "top 60" high tech cities says Austin has 65,400 tech sector jobs. The report was released yesterday by the TechAmerica Foundation, a non-profit affiliate of a .

The size of the labor force in the greater Austin metropolitan is 893,505, according to . TechAmerica's study is presumably only looking within Austin City Limits.

The report ranked tech cities on their overall job numbers; it was not a per capita measurement. That's why Austin was 23rd and first place New York City topped San Jose/Silicon Valley in third.
