The Austin filmmaker behind some of the web鈥檚 funniest viral videos is at it again.
Austin filmmaker is with his viral video, 鈥�.鈥� In the clip, Nicolosi鈥檚 mother narrates a rather fast and loose retelling of , while animation makes her hilariously fuzzy retelling come to life.
It鈥檚 not the first time Nicolosi鈥檚 videos have gone viral: a has earned hundreds of thousands of views. His 鈥� about a mythical studio than films all the web鈥檚 cat videos also blew up 鈥� so much so, it spawned an imitation.
Nicolosi鈥檚 also seen his shorts on the big screen. For South by Southwest 2011, 鈥� where the Super Mario Bros. storyline plays out hilariously and disturbingly in real life 鈥� was the official SXSW 鈥渂umper鈥� screening before festival films.
鈥淚鈥檝e always been a gamer,鈥� Nicolosi told KUT in 2012. 鈥淚 wanted to do a very realistic portrayal of Mario, as if it were a movie 鈥� kind of in the vein of movie. A movie about a character who is really committed to a dark path. And is continuing down that path as everyone around him is saying, 鈥極h, this a is a bad idea, you鈥檙e destroying yourself.鈥欌��
鈥淭he reaction to it was pretty insane online,鈥� Nicolosi recalled. 鈥淚t had about a million views in the first three weeks, and has continued to get more and more since then.鈥�
As of this writing. 鈥淭he Matrix Retold by Mom鈥� is closing in on 800,000 views 鈥� after being up for one day.
